Jason, apologies for posting this pic. I thought it was a funny response to your post. I’m not trying to slur…and after this weekend I know how you feel about Valleywag! But this picture is just too funny to not post about.
For those not in the awares, there was a new media event this weekend in LA called Barcamp.
It was a great event. Everyone who attended had to present on a topic. I presented a topic called “First Grade Art Class” along with friends Greg and Amy and my wife, Molly, who is a real first grade art teacher. We had the group watch a short online film about the Watts Tower (found here) and then the group had to do an actual art lesson that Molly is currently teaching to her first graders. We’re planning to begin to hold a monthly community folk art class here in LA, which we’ll organize via a site that will soon be online at firstgradeartclass.org (it isn’t yet live). There are lots of good pictures of Barcamp Los Angeles and the First Grade Art Class project on Flickr. Enjoy!
Thanks to everyone involved in BarcampLA. It was a very inspirational and fun event. It was great to meet all of you.
